Welcome to the Vietnamese Community of MNTết Trung Thu (Mid-Autumn Festival) is a joyous celebration that focuses on the children. The Festival dates back as far as 15-20,000 years ago in Southeast Asia, and falls on the fifteenth day of the eighth month in the Lunar calendar. Historically, the Festival came about as a way for parents to make up for lost time with their children after the vital harvest season. Today, the Mid-Autumn Festival is an event to show affection for the children and promotes activities such as poetry, dance and arts & crafts.
To preserve this tradition, the Landmark Center, the Friends of St Paul Public Library and the Vietnamese Community of Minnesota will be hosting the Mid-Autumn Festival on Sunday, September 19. This year’s event will be held at Landmark Center located at 75 West Fifth Street, St. Paul, MN 55102. The program includes a spectacular dragon dance performance, cultural shows, hands-on activities for children, storytelling, lantern give-away and taste of moon cake. This family event is Free to everyone so please join us in celebrating and welcoming Fall 2010!
